The Covid19 epidemic is one of the biggest crises that the world has faced in the last half a decade. India is amongst the worst affected countries, with hundreds of thousands of people dying. The second wave overwhelmed the medical infrastructure, leading to shortages of drugs, medical equipment, and even oxygen. With hospitals running full, thousands of people died at home or outside hospitals trying to get admitted. Many of those admitted into a hospital died when the oxygen at the hospital ran out. The pandemic was made worse by the inefficiency of bureaucracy and central planning tendencies of those in power. While Covid19 was an act of nature, the responsibility for the magnitude of this disaster lies solely on the Indian State.
